Six points down from the lead and the new tyres have finally arrived so it's all on.
Practise indicates that this should be a hot race with Nick, Jimmy, Karl Morgan and John Ross all close with their practise times. Between practise sessions we suspect the phantom fiddler who has been mysteriously fiddling with bikes had a go at Nicks as the rebound had been completely unwound. There was a bit of this going on in the pits and the phantom idiot does not realise the risk to peoples lives he is playing with.At this stage it put us completely on the back foot as we did not have a race bike set up and there was fustration and anger in the camp. In fact we didn't have it right by the time practise was finished. The only opportunity we had left to verify we had it right was the 3 lap scrub in session. Would you believe it we got it bang on. A special Thanks to Dukic Performance for his expert attention.
Race One and the battle is on. The lights change from red to green and up goes the Kawasaki like a bucking horse. Fifth into the first corner and then second into the next corner and along the back straight sees Jimmy, Nick and John all vying for position. Each lap it changes and the crowd
get in behind them. Nick takes the lead and then sets a new Lap record of 1:05.320 seconds. Lap 15 and the chequered flag goes out with Nick 1st followed by Jimmy and John Ross.
It wasn't until we had moved the bus around and saved the easi ups plus Triple R Teams Marquee from the wind that came up out of no where that we found out about the lap record so smiles all round.
Race Two and the lights change, much better start this time but once again it is the same guys at the front battling it out with Nick and James pulling away from the group. The commentator said that Nick was foxing as he continually hounded Jimmy lap after lap waiting for that white flag to come out and then he pounced passing Jimmy on the end of the back straight under braking. The crowd cheered him on and then he goes off into the dirt. Back on he comes home in 2nd placing to Jimmy with John Ross taking third. It turns out that Nicks foot slipped off the peg so it's off to Manfield with the points still the same.
Jacob Stroud comes over to where Nick is being congratulated on his race by John Hepburn and gives Nick the timing sheet which showed he had set the Lap record again breaking his previous lap recod. The lap record is now 1:04.809 - something to be proud of for sure.
Jimmy said it was such a hard fought race that he had barely any energy for his next superbike race. They both thoroughly enjoyed it.
The Kawaski is preforming brillantly and has drawn a lot of attention after each race and we would like to Thank Kawasaki NZ for their support and all our sponsors that have been looking after us and ringing with loads of encouragement and congratulations at each round. It is very much appreciated.
