Three meetings over the past few weeks have seen our team members battling it out between themselves.
First up saw Ray, Matt and Nick off to Manfield for the Victoria club round.
Matt was first up in the 150 class which had a few other groups thrown in for good measure. This saw a really larger field out there battling it out so was very hard to know how they were doing. Matt was midfield with his group and atthe end of the day was rapt to find he had taken a few more seconds of his times. He also won the bet he had with Ray that he would have the fastest lap time in the last race out of the two of them.
Nick was trying out his new bike, altering suspension and seeing how his wrist would work after its operation a few weeks earlier. He came away pleased with how it is progressing and will do a couple of trackdays before heading of to Burt Munroe Challenge.
Ray probably had the most exciting time as he was put in the clubmans class which had him up against some big bikes. But at the end of the day he was able to show off as he passed a 600 on his pre 63 350cc Triumph!!!! His last race was mad even more interesting by the fact that the Motards were added to his race and a small scattering of rain.
The following weekend saw the NZ Classic TT at Pukekohe. Matt was on Rays bike for this. The weekend started out with LaSalle and Matt going out for practice with some guideance from Nick. When they came back in LaSalle was given some advice on reving the Bultaco which Ginger Molloy had kindly loaned him for the racing and he finished 2nd in the Junior TT race. Matt had all his lines right so Nick said Keep to those lines, show you've go Balls and go for it. You'll be right.
Well I think Geoff L was listening in as he tried showing his balls literally, he came off after the torque arm came undone and locked the bike off. He took out the seat of his pants and has had a week or two of standing only. Matt was just behind and had two choices - run Geoff over or lay the bike down. He was kind to Geoff and layed it down only to have the following rider run over his head. Matt was taken to hospital and was finally discharged at 1.00 a.m. in the morning. This didn't stop him though, he was back again on the sunday to race.
Nick, Graeme and Chris had some awesome riding up the front followed by Rob Chappell and Bryan D. Across the line they came lap after lap changing places and a few elbow digs were seen to be in action along with Graeme putting his boot up to Nicks backside as he passed his da on the finish line.
Nick unable to race on the sunday gave his bike to Ray - Well a kid in a candy store comes to mind here. Ray went out and showed Stephen, Rob and Bryan that he might be a old fella officially now but he's not slow. In the corner he flew up to them and poked his nose in between them all going into the corner and then he had a voice in his head remind him that Nick was bigger than him if he fell off so he backed down but man was he buzzing. Sunday Matt also went back out and rode around the field close to Bruce, Graeme L and Keith and is more than eager to get back into it again. Good on you Matt. Unfortunately the steward read his report from the ambo guys and wouldn't let him race the next weekend when the boys all headed of again to Manfield.
Only a small group of our team could make this round but I hear the elbows were still going. Bryan D found his mojo Geoff told me after Puke and it was still there at Manfield. Rob Chappell was after those points as he is in the lead for the championship rounds but a little squeeze in the corner between him and Bryan saw Rob trying out Motard racing in the dirt. Stephen reports that he went fine but Chris Hyland of Motomail reputation had a problem of his bike runiing on one cylinder. A little birdie tells me it was fuel starvation eh Chris.Noel changed brands for the weekend racing a Ducati instead as Jimmy had the Triumph still in the laboratory fitting new "Tings" to it.
Next up is the Burt Munroe Challenge with Ray, Rob,Graeme, Chris and Nick competing under our banner.
