The boys are back at it again.
Over the last few weeks we have had some exciting racing between our team members.
It goes something like this.........
Manfield - Last round of the winter club series saw Ray, Nick and Matt out on their bikes with Matt in a large field of 150 riders, and Nick in the 600Supersport class.
Whilst Nick was using this for a chance to try out the wrist after his op, Matt was hard out on his 150. He was in an extremely large field of riders and managed to stay midfield of his group. He has found a hunger after riding his Dads (Ray) bike and it was a chance to show what he could do as he's hoping for a new bike for the 2010 season. It was a great day of racing and I had to look hard as a lot of the riders have changed bike brands and colours of their leathers since I last watched them.
Ray was on his Triumph and was put out in the clubmans class which certainly gave him some exciting moments especially when he passed a 600 on his 350 Triumph. Whoo hoo was his reaction to this. I would have loved to seen the other guys face when this pre 63 motorcycle went past. In the last race of the day for Ray it was made even more exciting with a little bit of rain and Motoards added. Yes you read that right MOTARDS!!! Ray was pleased when the red flag came out, he had had enough for the day but was really excited by it all. So much so he drove most of the way home whilst there were snores from Matt and Rays grandson Logan in the back.
Matt was rapt as he had managed to take a few extra seconds of his times and he was rearing to go for the next meeting which was Pukekohe for the Classic TT.
The TT started out with beautiful weather and Ray, Graeme and Bryan D were quickly trying hard to look perky after a merry night. They are the most popular guys in the pits for being the most annoying roudy shites at 1.30a.m. in the morning. I'm a little fire engine flick was my name was the wakeup call that they gave several people at this ungodly hour. Bruce H was the next to arrive with his usual bright chirpy smile. Practice went great with LaSalle and Matt going in front of Nick and then behind to see were they could improve. LaSalle was on Ginger Mollys Bultaco for the first time and he did extremely well taking 2nd placing in the Junior TT race. Congratulations.
Matt went around and Nick said to him no worries you have your lines right just go for it and keep those lines and you should be right. The only problem was that Dr Geoff as Lynda Maddock calls him decided he was tired in the first race and had a lay down on the track after locking his bike up just as Matt came through. Matt had a choice hit Geoff hard or lay the bike down. Lay down he did but the following rider ran straight over his head. A trip to the hospital where he stayed until 1.00 a.m. in the morning but he was back the next day out there again. Good on you Matt.
Nick had sunday off so he offered his bike to Ray - Well Ray had a grin from ear to ear after the first try on Nicks bike and the only thing holding him back was Nick is bigger than him if he drops it. He is hoping Nick won't notice if he changes over the number boards at the festival. Seriously though the boys got out there and battled it out amongst each other and there was a few elbows digging each other in the ribs and Graeme was seen to give Nick a boot on the saturday as he went past. Nick still beat him though.
Rob Chappell, Steven and Bryan D had an awesome battle between each other and I am told that this carried over to the following weekend where Bryan had two excellent races and in the third one he taught Rob that it's really fun in the dirt on the corner.
Noel was on a Ducati for this meeting as Jimmy still had the Triumph in the lab concocting some new "Tings" for it. Rob, Bryan and Stephen are close in the points now so look out at the festival in february. Chris don't forget to fix that running on one cyclinder problem your bike has - I think it's called FUEL starvation......
Next up is the Burt Munroe challenge with Ray, Rob, Graeme, Chris and Nick representing the Red Devil Team so will let you know how they go there.
