The secret "Ting" is exposed. PDF Print E-mail

The classic guys have had three rounds of late and there has been some shenanigans going on.

Bryan Dawson has fallen off three times with not a scratch or dent to be seen except maybe in the wallet as team rule is applied - fall off you shout!! This finishes off the meeting at the pub on the way home quite nicely.

This also gives you a clue as to where some of the ideas come from.

The TT at Pukekohe saw Noel and James have a boomer of a race right to the finish line which made everybody forget about the two Bultacos in the front. James took the third place title for the TT but Noels face when he took his helmet off was the best ever. He had a grin from ear to ear and the excitement from everybody made us the rowdest group but Noel stood there grining with sweat pouring down his face. His hair was saturated. This had Jimmy who lives in Auckland following the Waikato group to the Rangiriri pub and asking how much to purchase James. James not being for sale had ridden Geoffs bike and showed him how it really goes. This had Jimmy saying "Wait till I put my "Ting" in it the little bugger hasn't a chance.

Manfield and the company of Bruce Hodge in the bus mean't that at our accomodation for the night Bruce was shown Mount Gay. When trying to find his bed the door kept moving so he was finally escorted to the right room and bed for the night. On looking in in the morning Bruce had changed beds. Just as well Lucelle had moved to the bed in the lounge so he could watch T.V. Bruce was driving the pick up vehicle that day and during a discussion a couple of weeks later we were told how Bill Biber had been concerned about wether Bruce would be able to find the other gears in the ute and keep up during the day as he had gone so slow on the saturday.

Saturday night had loads of discussion about secret tings to make the bikes go faster and Noel had been put on a diet to help things along. Graeme suggested that the bikes and rider should be weighed and then everybody weighted up to match the heaviest rider. Noel was all for this and laughed at how much James would have to put on being that he is several kilos lighter. He was then very much disallusioned when he was reminded that he had forgotten Nick. Bugger!!.

Sunday racing saw Jimmy apply the secret "Ting" to Graeme Coles bike. The riders polished their bikes several times waiting for Graeme to spot it. He went all around the bike but never spotted it until he got on ready to go out for a race. He called Jimmy a unprintable name which had the others roaring with laughter. The "Ting" was a little bell with a lever to make it go ding a ling.

In the racing  Graeme and Steve Scullion fought it out in the front with some of the old rivarally from the 80's coming to the fore. Further back in the field Geoff proved that his confidence was back and we saw some hum dinger racing going on between the boys. Stephen Jones, Bryan Dawson both have improved heaps so it showed some exciting moments within the race. There is a suggestion that Shane Borrell has been sneaking off to Puke track days to improve his racing. He is looking a lot smoother thats for sure. Ray was determined to be up the front of the bunch and running in the morning came in handy as his fitness showed in his racing. Rob was quieter than usual but he has been helping polar bears and penguins the last few weeks in freezing cold temperatures so the heat would have been a nightmare for him.

Last to be mentioned but by far not the last racer was young Matt. I'm proud of you Matt you put all the skills you have learn't over the last three meetings at Manfield on your  150 into practice and rode brilliantly. I particularly like the move where you went underneath three riders in the corner and came out in front and pulled away from them all.

The last race of the day saw Graeme and Noel have a battle to the finish with Ray nearly falling off the ladder he had climbed to get a better photo. Both guys enjoyed it and discussed different riding techniques afterwards.

Desert road which has been a monthly drive for us over winter saw the local cowboys issue their xmas menus to a couple of racers on the way home. Rays charm with the blonde cop allowed him a smile and have a nice day but saw her break the speed limit to pull up another person who already had had a shite day when the manx tank was dented show all his charm but she wasn't wearing it. He was given her xmas wish list. No it didn't have a Manx on it but it probably would have payed for the dent to be repaired.

See the boys all racing at the Taupo Spectacular 28th/29th December 2008
