Matt Hayward is the youngest member of our team.
At the age of 16 years he is still attending St Johns College in the 5th form this year.
He joined our Classic team at the age of 15 years old.
Matt has come from an athletic background representing his school in cross country. He was also athletics champion for his intermediate school.
Matt plays soccer on a regular basis for St Johns college helping to keep him in peak fitness.
He starting racing at the end of 2007 in our classic team after having a try out on his fathers bike and throughly enjoying the experience it was into Graeme Coles shed to help them build a bike for him to compete on.
In the short time he has been racing he has won the Junior Classic championship series and this winter he is competing on a Kawasaki KR150 learning the techniques required to race a Modern motorcycle. This has been a big learning curve with Matt having most of his experiences racing in the rain. Consquently he has learn't about the technique of falling off with out hurting himself and having to wear a bright orange vest over his leathers. Nick and Adam had their turns at this and told him the best part is when you get to burn it once you have reached the required age limit.
Seriously though Matt is coming along well and enjoying the many friendships that you make racing. So look out for him and cheer him along.
