Hampton Downs and the final of the NZ Superbike Series saw Nick take 1st place in the first race with pole position. He was well ahead of the field as he came over the finish line waving his arms and legs in excitement. Race two saw Nick take things easy to make sure he brought the bike home which is waht he did taking 2nd place to Glen Sketchill and Midge Smart was third.
Going into this round the main contender that Nick had for the title was James Smith from Christchurch who unfortunately had a crash in the first race and a jump start in the second race which gave him a 20 second penalty. There had been just two and a half points between them coming into hte final round.
Nick was so excited and his win was extremely popular as the next race couldn't get started because riders and spectators blocked pitlane all wanting to congratulate Nick. It also saw Nick give his Dad Graeme a big hug and the crowd just cheered. Nick was so popular that the commentator asked if he had hired "Rent a crowd". He certainly had a lot of support there.
Up on the balcony of one of the apartments Nicks supporter had a sign saying "Nick Cole" the giant killer. They were three deep on the balcony and everybody just hoped that the balcony had been well constructed. The Waikato Classic Club and Nicks Team mates from theRed Devil Classic Team came along with his sponsors and supporters to cheer him on and with his brother and relatives including his Grandparents to watch it was a very moving scene to see the support that Nick has.
