Paeroa Street Race PDF Print E-mail
We had a fantastic time at Paeroa with Nick taking the Formula Two class in both races. Nick also came third in the King of the Streets with Craig Sherrifs and Hayden FitzGerald both on Honda 1000s coming first and second respectively. Nick on the 600 couldn't quite catch them on the long front straight.
Adam came fourth and third and we also had Marcus Beagley in our team colours this weekend who as he put it was a virgin to Paeroa Street racing but he managed to finish mid field so that was pleasing.
Nicks fan club was by far the loudiest

around the track.

Nick crashed three times during the day but managed to get the bike back in time for the start of the races. The first was in practice when all hyped up and raring to go he went too hot into the corner and tipped off. The second one was an odd one were both Jared Love and Nick came down at exactly the same time and spot yet neither bikes touched. They hit the white paint and both bikes lost the front ends.

The third crash was after the chequered flag where Nicks back brake locked up causing him to crash right in front of his fan club which was most embarasing.

Despite he rode the bike with twisted yokes, bent forks and front brakes that we just couldn't get right. He worked his two mechanics Mouse and Graeme real hard throughout the day to keep him out there. It's a credit to these three that they were able to use their different skills to keep the Kawasaki out on the track all day and still achieve the desired results.

Our two Classic boys finished at the front of the mid field so they have gone home also extremely happy with the weekend. Rob Chappel rode extremely well and Ray Hayward kept up his Paeroa tradition of playing in the hay bales. Unfortunately for him it wasn't by the pub this year. However he did manage to ride back after the first crash and get the bike back together for the next race.
Having over a dozen young lads and girls dressed in our Red Devil Shirts cheering on our riders was awesome. Our Modern side was in the Kawasaki Green so we really stood out.
We must also say a big Thank you for those people who came to Paeroa and supported us. It is such a hetic time but having you there supporting us makes it all worth while.
Today started early unpacking the bus and getting the bike to pieces as Nick and Jarred Love came off at the begining of their first race but thanks to Graeme and Mouse working hard the bike was all ready for Nick to go back out with the restart of the race.
Mouse had absconded on a long term borrow from Brian Bernard so it was good to have him back with our team as he was there at the begining when Nick started out into the world of racing. It makes it so much easier in the camp having somebody that you can work with who you can trust to go ahead and finish the job properly. It also gives Nick a lot more confidence knowing that it is all ready for him.
It's off to Manfield thursday for round 4 of the Nationals, so boy this is going to be a short week again.
